What can a peptide calculator app calculate?
The arithmetic can be automatic while every input remains yours.
A peptide calculator app can calculate concentration from vial mass and diluent volume, then convert a target amount entered by the user into mL and syringe units. Pinned leaves the target field blank and provides no target presets. It performs the arithmetic without choosing an amount, compound, source, or protocol.
What does a peptide calculator app actually calculate?
Two numbers, and both are fixed arithmetic. Concentration is the amount printed on the vial divided by the volume of diluent added to it, in mg per mL. Amount per unit takes that concentration and divides it by 100, because one U-100 syringe unit is a hundredth of a millilitre.[1]
Illustrative arithmetic: a vial labelled 5 mg with 2 mL of diluent gives 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 mg/mL. One U-100 unit then contains 2.5 ÷ 100 = 0.025 mg, or 25 mcg. Neither step selects a compound or a target amount.
Which values does Pinned leave for you to enter?
The standalone calculator initializes its numeric fields as empty. Selecting a stored vial can supply that vial's saved mass and diluent volume. The target-amount field remains empty, and the shipped sheet defines no target-amount presets.
MDCG 2019-11 Rev.1 says intended purpose governs whether software qualifies as medical device software. Software with a medical purpose that calculates or interprets medical information may qualify; a calculation is not classified by its formula alone.[1]
Pinned's Terms state that the app does not recommend compounds, sources, doses, or protocols. Its calculator converts the values entered or explicitly supplied by app context. It does not choose those values.
| Field | Standalone calculator | After selecting a stored vial |
|---|---|---|
| Vial mass | Blank | Saved vial mass can be supplied |
| Diluent volume | Blank | Saved volume can be supplied |
| Target amount | Blank; no presets | Remains blank; no presets |
| Syringe scale | U-100 | Saved scale can be supplied |
What changes when a stored vial supplies context?
The web calculator keeps its two inputs only in browser memory and clears them on refresh. The app can retain a saved vial's mass, diluent volume, concentration, and syringe scale after the user creates or updates that vial.
That saved context reduces re-entry. It does not change the formulas or fill the target amount. Opening the standalone calculator also does not create or modify a stored vial.
What should a calculator app not do?
It should not choose a target amount, recommend a named substance, link a vendor, or claim clinical accuracy. Pinned keeps those functions outside the calculator and leaves the target field empty.
How does Pinned handle incompatible units?
Pinned converts g, mg, and mcg when their relationship is defined. Its conversion engine returns no result when IU is mixed with a mass unit. International units are tied to specific reference preparations, so there is no universal IU-to-mg factor for the app to apply.[1]
Pinned converts numbers you enter. It does not recommend compounds, sources, doses, or protocols. Nothing on this page is medical advice. Verify the arithmetic against the labels and qualified instructions in front of you.
FAQ
- Does Pinned choose a target amount?
- No. The target field starts empty and has no presets. If you enter a target amount, Pinned converts it into a volume and unit count without choosing the amount for you.
- What's the difference between a reconstitution calculator and a dose calculator?
- A reconstitution calculator derives concentration from vial mass and diluent volume. A target conversion takes an amount supplied by the user and converts it into volume and syringe units. Choosing the target amount is separate from either formula.
- Does Pinned prefill the calculator?
- The standalone calculator opens with empty numeric fields. Selecting a stored vial can supply its saved mass, diluent volume, and syringe scale, but the target amount stays empty unless an explicit screen context supplies it.
- Can Pinned convert IU to mg?
- No general conversion is attempted. Pinned returns no result when IU and a mass unit are mixed because an international unit requires a preparation-specific reference rather than one universal mass factor.
- Does the web calculator save its inputs?
- No. The website holds the two values only in browser memory. Refreshing the page clears them. Saving vial context is an explicit app workflow, not a side effect of opening a calculator.
